CG CAE has an overall experience of more than 50 years in the simulation of the thermo-structural behavior of mechanical assemblies.

Deep knowledge and strong capabilities in Solid Mechanics, in Numerical Analysis and in the Finite Element Method theory are key factors to effectively face and solve complex thermo-structural problems. And all this is deeply embedded into CG CAE’s DNA.

CG CAE has experience in modeling and analyzing components and assemblies built with almost any kind of materials: from the classical steel to the more advanced lightweight Aluminum, Titanium and Magnesium alloys up to the high tech Metal Matrix Composites (MMC). The structural behavior of thermoset Fiber Reinforced Plastics (FRP), where fibers can be carbon, both High Strength (HS – for resistance) and High Modulus (HM – for stiffness), glass or Kevlar, is also part of CG CAE’s background, based on several years spent in the Formula One top technology environment.

Skill in modeling peculiar materials, such as hyperelastic ones (i.e. rubber for seals) where it is fundamental to find the best suitable material model starting from simple laboratory tests on samples, or such as stainless steel (widely used in the nuclear energy sector) that presents, at very low temperatures (i.e. around 4 K), the phenomenon known as “serration effect”, is also part of CG CAE’s kernel.

On top of this strong engineering understanding, the knowledge of the most advanced software tools, based on the Finite Element Method, allows CG CAE to deliver top quality results for reliable simulations.

  • ABAQUS
  • ANSYS
  • NASTRAN

Good geometry modeling, carefulness in mesh creation and reliability in post-processing the results are key factors to quality simulations. CG CAE’s engineers have deep familiarity with the most used graphical software:

  • CATIA
  • ABAQUS CAE/Viewer
  • ANSYS/Workbench
  • HyperMesh/HyperView
  • Patran

This wide knowledge and the long experience in all the aspects of thermo-structural simulations make CG CAE the perfect partner to be consulted even when looking for a new employee or when there is the need to choose a FEM based software.
